Inspiration: Creating cyanotypes requires strong UV light—ideally, sunlight. The sun brings warmth and light to both life and artmaking.
Even in the deepest seas, the light of Christ shines through, offering direction and life.
Imagine being underwater, looking up toward the surface. The sunlight breaks through the waves, and in that glow, you can see the way out.
The Series at Large: Becoming was born out of self-reflection and a desire to pause and ask: Who am I? Who am I becoming? And is the path I’m on still the right one for the person I hope to grow into? What began as four large-scale works somehow turned into a full story—with seven smaller pieces rounding out the series, each holding its own little whisper of truth.
I hope some part of it resonates with you—because I have a feeling I’m not the only one in the middle of finding myself.
I also want to mention two incredible women who have mentored me in cyanotype photography: Sarah Moody and Brittany Stowe. We’ve had the joy of creating together twice now, and it was through the workshop they hosted on World Cyanotype Day that these seven pieces came to life. I’m so grateful.
